The Fremont Chess Festival Returns for 2026

Following the resounding success of the 2025 Fremont Chess Festival — made possible by the generous support of Ava Community Energy and the dedication of Fremont Chess volunteers — Fremont Chess and FEMChess are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Fremont Chess Festival in celebration of National Chess Day! Thanks to continued sponsorship from Ava Community Energy, this event remains 100% FREE to the public.

The main event of the festival, 2026 Fremont Scholastic (K-8) Championship, will be led by Chief Tournament Director Kavya Meiyappan, a prominent local chess leader and President of FEMChess. Founded in 2020, FEMChess is a youth-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit and USCF affiliate dedicated to closing the chess gender gap by empowering young women through instruction and competitive play.
